Sharon Martin: Shots, Locations and Props

Tom

As some final preparation for hopefully starting to film Sharons music video next week I wanted to break down the locations and shots for each scene.

The majority of the music video will be shot inside the local arts centre and the first thing I plan to do is set up the stage to look like a gig night, I will be taking Sharons guidance on this. Once the stage is set up I plan to shoot her singing the entire song from two different angles and to do that twice through. I want one of the angles to be in close up and one to be a mid shot and if we do the song the whole way through twice I have a lot of back up footage to go to in case anything goes wrong. I plan to get a colleague to come and help me on the shoot but the people who I have asked are yet to confirm wether they are available or not yet. Having this photo will cover the bulk of the music video and I will cut in between these different shots multiple times throughout. Their are also a few other shots that I can capture in the same location, the first is an over the shoulder shot of sharon writing the second line of lyrics from the song as this is the second shot in the video. This can be done back stage just at a quiet table. One other simple shot I can get is just Sharon slowly walking off stage looking down which will just be a fairly simple mid shot. I can also get the shot of Sharon looking at her self in the mirror backstage and then going to pack up her equipment at this location as well. Another couple of shots I can get in this location is the pans across the audience I will do a few of these pans to make sure they are as smooth and as professional as they can be. The first pans across the audience need to be just with empty seats in shot and the second shots need to be with the arts centre as full as it can be. The shots where the centre is full are going to be difficult with regards to getting enough extras to fill the room. I have discussed this with Sharon and the staff at the centre have said they are willing to help out however I don't know how many of them will be in on the day, there is a possibility of using some students from my uni just to fill the background but since we are filming on location on a few different dates we can see if we have enough people on the first date or not and go from there.

Outside of the arts centre I can get a couple of shots of Sharon first walking one way past the camera and stopping briefly to look at a show poster that says all further dates cancelled and then having her walking back the other way in a separate shot with her looking happy at a poster with the words fully booked on it.

We also need to find a few other locations, the first being a car which we can just use Sharons. This is for a shot of her driving home, I am optimistically hoping I can use camera movements to create the effect of the car driving or if not the shot can always be me in the car with her actually driving capturing a side on view. Another shot we can get in her car is of Sharon slowly deciding to pick up and play her instrument again although this shot could also be done in a quiet area of the arts centre.

The final location is 45 seconds of different shots of Sharon walking through a woodland area (this still needs to be found). The first shots are of her just walking followed by Sharon sitting down and feeling inspired and starting to write lyrics.
