Researching Sharon's existing music videos 1

Tom

To start my research I have decided to look through Sharon's already existing music videos and break down what I like and don't like so much about them. The first video I analysed was for her song called Opium Of The Masses and was created by a student in Bath.

What I liked:

Keeping to only 3-4 different shots- The video consists of several different shots taken within the same woodland area. I think this works because it keeps the video simple and not all over the place, I would be looking to keep to keep to 3-4 different shots but not necessarily all in the same location.

Some professional looking shots- There are some professional looking shots within the video and these are some that I would be looking to replicate the quality of. see some of the shots I liked below

Some effective transitions- (see below as well) Some of the transitions are effective in creating a soft flow between shots. The fade in and outs I particularly liked although I did feel they are over used in some areas.

Things I think I can improve on in my video:

People/objects in the back ground of shots- Although it can't always be avoided a couple of times in the video people and cars are visible in the background of shots and this can be distracting to an audience. To improve on this I would be looking to plan better locations that are less likely to have people and cars around but again this isn't always possible.

Shots taking Sharon out of focus- Some of the shots take Sharon out of focus as well as the background and this is easily solved by just taking more time with each shot.

lighting issues- Some of the lighting was off and it makes the quality of some of the images look lower quality. I will have this issue my self and I am going to have to consider my locations with this in mind.
