Creating a storyboard from my initial ideas after listening to Sharon's song

Tom

After listening to Sharon's song I started to break down every single line of lyrics and think about where I could take this in the from of a story. At the meeting yesterday me and Sharon discussed the video showing the highs and lows of being a performer as she felt that was what the song was about although we did discuss that other people might have different interpretations and she was interested in my views on it to. I happened to get the same feel as Sharon from the song and so the storyboard I have put together below starts with showing Sharon as a struggling performer playing to no one but then finding her music again and coming back to the venue later on at the end of the video and playing to a sold out crowd. I feel this both gives me an opportunity to be creative with the music video but also crucially fits the clients thoughts and opinions as well. I thought about the locations while I was designing the storyboard and logistically it isn't possible for us to travel to loads of different locations we don't have the budget. Instead I built the storyboard mainly around mine and Sharon's idea of using the local art centre with only having a couple of shots that are outside of there but those are fairly achiever shots I feel. I also put rough times on each shot and I did that for a couple of reasons, the first was because I wanted to closely follow the lyrics and the second was so that when I am editing I know the rough times of each shot so that I can edit to the beat of the song. I did have some issues using google docs as mixing images and text on their is quite hard and I wouldn't use google docs for a storyboard again.

Sharon has replied and is pleased with my work and ideas and we are looking to secure the arts centre now as a filming locations so that we can hopefully start filming in just under a couple of weeks time.
