Over the past week I have been starting to develop some ideas for my Final major project, I plan to work with my class colleague Alex as I feel together we can make a better product than if we were to work as individuals. I had an idea of making a dark comedy as I was feeling inspired by Chris Morris's shows like the day today and Jam, this however is a completely different genre to anything I had done before. I thought doing a news based parody close to how the day to day is in order to give structure to the sketches but my teacher felt the green screen wouldn't look good enough for a final major project. My teacher then suggested horror as a potential genre that has clear theories to learn unlike comedy which can be hard to study. I stuck with the comedy idea for a bit and reiterated everything that had been said to my colleague who said he liked my idea but also had an idea for a horror so we set up a meeting to discuss our ideas. during the meeting we bounce ideas off each other and I changed my idea to a sketch show that wasn't new related in order to remove the green screen. My colleagues horror idea was a short film that would be based on a Lovecraft book where a guy finds this town of fish people and ends up getting hunted by them. We had these two ideas and I started to search for some student made short comedy films to prove it can be done. In the process I found this movie called stapler which is really well made and inspired me and my colleague to settle on the idea of creating a short comedy film which involves a fish man trying to integrate himself into society much like what we do in the shadows has done but with vampires.
