Blackout city Showreel (Equipment list and finding a colleague to help)

Tom

Updated: Dec 19, 2019

I usually work with my class colleague Alex on shoots but I asked him while travelling to the bath shoot if he would be available to help with this shoot and he said he was busy on the 7th of December with work. This lead me to open the job up to my class and see who was interested, I originally got no replies until I put added a sweetener that the job was paid then I received a reply from one of my other class colleague Emily however she specialises in photography. I was offering £75 for someone just to help out with the shooting on the day itself not with editing or any pre production stuff this means for that sort of money I wanted someone who could help with ideas of where to place cameras and help me with set up etc on the night. I have kept looking for and my teacher has said some other people are interested although they have not got back to me so I was ready to settle with Emily until my partner who is studying at Plymouth Uni said she could help. Although like Emily her skills are in photography and more arts based photography I thought she would be more helpful than Emily not only because of her artsy eye but as well as her access to equipment. As my partner Sophie is studying at Plymouth University she has access to their massive kit store and can rent any number of equipment out for a week at a time. This means I can take some really good quality sound recording gear on the 7th meaning it solves that sound issue me and the client had been trying to solve. It also means she is able to take out a really good camera and another tripod that we can use alongside mine as back up. It also gives me access to lights for the shoot if need be but I don't think we will need any. I have had to let down Emily because of this however in my research I looked at event band websites and have said to Emily I will speak to the band and see if they are interested in any photography for their website which I will discuss with them in our upcoming meeting that has been arranged for next Monday (A week today). It could be seen as unprofessional to work with a partner but I do not think it is any different to how you would work with any colleague you just be professional.
