Colour is hugely important in all art pieces as colour is the language of art with each colour having its own meaning. In my piece I want to put a LUT over my footage in pre production to represent the emotions each character might be feeling.
Vincent Van Goughs sunflowers piece is a an example of using the colour yellow to show feelings of joy and hapiness that then the viewer feels while observing the piece. The piece while in the gallery was also shown on a dark frame and backlight from within to really bring the colours out.
Between 1901 and 1904 Pablo Picaso used to paint in monotone tones of blue. Using the blue to represent the pain and hurt he was feeling towards the loss of his fellow artist friend Carlos Casagemas. This period of his work became known as the blue period and now blue is seen as quite a versatile colour as a lighter blue good represent safety and be calming to a viewer.
I want each characters emotions in my piece to be represented represented by a coloured LUT over their clip. The character and corresponding LUT are listed below.
Counsellor-
Mum- The mum character is present in a couple of clips and both times she is supposed to be comforting but also passionate as she just wants the best for her child. Therefore I am going to go with the colour red to represent the mum character as red represents having a passion for something in this case her child doing well but at the same time it also represents love.
Teenager 1- The characters in this conversation feature a young guy talking to himself and in turn his depression. I want use a dark blue to represent the actual personality of the boy to represent feelings of sadness and low mood and then have no colour on the depression one because depression isn't an emotion its an illness.
Teenager 2- The second clip will feature the same actor as the previous clip but this time the teenager is unsure where to go in life and is feeling lost a colour that represents this is the colour a darker yellow which represents feelings of being unstable.
