Bristol media- Bristol media are a local media company that work to bring together Bristol media to promote the creative work that is being done in this part of the country. Bristol media is a membership based service that through social media has been able to create a network of local media professionals and clients. A membership to the site is £20 for students and as well as access to the network also gives you discount on things like venue higher as well as giving you access to training classes to help improve you as a professional in the industry. The company has 32,000 followers on Twitter and 4,000 members in a LinkedIn group which allow members to connect with media professionals from all over the world and give local people the chance to promote their work on a wider front. That being said however despite all the followers they have gained their actual individual posts don't seem to get much attention, I had a look down there page and they tend to only get a couple of likes on each post but of course it is hard to tell weather people are actually reading the articles just by how many likes a post gets. They do however have more luck on Lindin as they seem to get around 30 likes on average per post which would make sense as Bristol media do post more academic posts that are more suited to somewhere like LinkedIn rather than twitter. What this has shown me is that a page can have loads of followers but still only be connecting to people on a very small scale and also that you have to think about what you are posting where. More academic and research based posts are more suited to LinkedIn where as the more casual posting is likely to get more viewers on somewhere like twitter or Facebook.
