Business Cards Research

Something that I haven't really looked into before is business cards and particularly looking at designing a business card for my company Iris studios. I want my card to stand out but also not look to gimmicky. After researching business cards these are a few that I have picked out to analyse.

The first card I found is quite gimmicky in a sense of it it has gone for an old camcorder style. I am torn between liking the cards creativity and thinking it isn't professional enough. It is original and stands out but the transparent effect is also expensive to produce and I don't know if it is worth the extra money.

The second card I looked at has a very basic design that a lot of companies use. The card is cheap to produce but doesn't have a lot of originality. The card is however professional and does tell a potential client what their business does. I also like the highlighting on the word cinematographer however I feel using that same colour on the fourth and sixth lines as well doesn't work.

Again I liked the transparent effect of this business card however that effect is expensive and it's hard to find a company that will print a transparent business card. Although I do like the font that they have used as well as the size of their text.

In conclusion through my research I have discovered that there are loads of different business card designs but the most effective ones always have a balance between being original and creative and being professional. As a freelance videographer it's really important to show that my company is both professional but also that I am a creative and stand out against other business. My new research has given me some ideas to help me now go and develop my own business card.
