I contacted Rob Tribe the morning looking to get some more information on the band as at the moment I have very little. He said that he was supposed to meet with his lead singer this morning but due to having a flat tyre was unable to, he has however sent me over some details of the band and what they are looking for from the show reel. They are a four piece band consisting of a female singer and male drummer, bassist and lead guitarist, based in Somerset and are called Blackout City. They are a covers band and are looking to branch out from pub gigs to venues like weddings and parties and this is what the emphasis of the show reel had to be on. The genre of music they play is mainly classic pop songs. They are wanting a 5 minuet show reel that shows off their best bits from the gig and also promotes them as an event band. As they are a covers band they have no songs of their own available so we are hoping their bassist will bring his high quality audio recording device to capture sound on the night. We have also discussed because it is the castle hotel that the event will require us to be dressed smartly in suit and tie.
Something he wanted to know from me was a rough idea of cost so what I have done is totalled up the rough number of hours I will spend on the project added expenses and said that if I wasn't a student videographer the price would be around £450-£500 but since I am a student I will do the project for between £200-£250 which he seemed happy with. He is now going to be getting back to mean soon to arrange a meeting to outline some of the smaller details as well as giving me a set list for the gig on December 7th. I am going to start researching into other event band show reels and start putting some ideas together.
